Parents and grandparents are encouraged to contribute their time and talents in the classrooms, at lunch and at recess. Volunteer requests are sent home at the beginning of each academic year. Classroom volunteers help teachers with lessons, administrative tasks and the coordination of holiday parties. Lunch volunteers help serve food to students and teachers, clean up the lunch room and help wash dishes. Recess monitors help supervise the children while they play.
St. Cletus Church and School follows the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program (Protecting God’s Children). The program is designed to help protect the youth, elderly, and vulnerable adults of our parish as they participate in activities within our community. For more information please call Mary Peters at 636-255-1714 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. An overview of the program and workshop schedule may be found on the Archdiocese website at http://archstl.org/sep
Parents are also encouraged to become active in the PTO and Men’s Club. The PTO organizes programs that benefit the parish and the school, and raise funds for activities and non-budgeted school supplies and equipment. This prevents the children from having to sell magazines, wrapping paper, etc. All school parents are encouraged to attend PTO meetings, especially the general meetings which take place twice a year. All regular monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall (in the lower level of the church building), unless otherwise communicated.
PTO-sponsored activities include:
STP Gift Card Program (click for more information and link to order form)
Fish Fry- We serve fried and baked fish, as well as family style sides on Fridays during Lent (excluding Good Friday). We have a dining room and carry-out service.
Trunk or Treat- Near Halloween, the parking lot is closed at a certain time and then children are free to Trick or Treat at each car. Games, food, music etc. is available in the school cafeteria as well.
Grandparents Day- In October the students invite their Grandparents to Mass and then back to the school to meet their teachers and share a light breakfast.
Breakfast With Santa- In early December the gym is transformed into a winter-wonderland with Santa making an appearance. There are craft booths, raffle baskets, food and an area where the children can “shop” for special, inexpensive gifts for family and friends.
Field Day- In May the students spend the day participating in various stations, playing physical games planned by the eighth graders. Hot dogs and hamburgers are served to everyone. The day culminates with a School Family potato sack race and the faculty/eighth grade balloon toss.
Book Fair- In conjunction with Scholastic, books and other goodies are available for sale to the students, parents and grandparents. Profits benefit our school library.

Uniform exchange- Gently used uniforms are available for an exchange or for purchase at a very reasonable price to help our families and to recycle uniforms.
Room Parents- Every classroom has a room parent who plans and recruits help for the Halloween, Christmas and Valentine Day parties. They also see that our teachers and faculty members are remembered on their birthdays and days of appreciation.
Scholarships- The PTO offers several scholarships to our graduates who apply for them, based on service and essays.
Trivia Night- This is an evening of fun where tables of eight compete against each other in trivia in ten different categories.

The Men’s Club
Many school fathers are members of the Men’s Club, which is a parish sponsored organization open to all men of the parish over the age of 21.
The Men’s Club organizes and operates the parish's athletic programs, parish functions such as the annual Parish Picnic and Lenten Fish Fries, and assists with the maintenance of the church and school properties.
Its stewardship activities include Sunday Breakfasts which benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Adopt- a-family at Christmas, scholarships to the graduating 8th grade class, and various other charity works.
Mens Club meetings are held every second Wednesday of each month in the school cafeteria. For information, visit www.StCletusMensClub.org
