A Note from Ms. Doherty

Message Community Worship Service

October 4, 2018

Dear School Families:

We are looking forward to our Grandparents and Special Friends visiting us at school tomorrow. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate together at Mass and then visit school. Our thanks to the PTO, Kateri Lowery, Lauren Zimmer, Heather Behrmann and all the volunteers for making this day possible! Our special thanks to E. H. Glueck & Co for donating the beautiful mums which will be decorating the tables. Grandparents and our Special Friends are invited to sit with the children during our 8:00 AM Mass. If for some reason the child/children’s guest is not able to join them for Mass, each child will sit with their own homeroom teacher and will meet up with their Grandparent or Special Friend at school. We ask that the parents of Kindergarten and First Graders tell the Grandparents and Special Friends where the children sit for an All School Mass and go to that area to meet them. Hopefully this will help the small ones feel more comfortable in what could be overwhelming for them. Following Mass, Grandparents and Special Friends will meet up with the children in the classroom of the youngest child, any siblings or cousins will be coming to that room to meet them also. It would help for the morning to run smoothly if you would please remind your older children what room they should be going to in order to meet their Grandparent or Special Friend. Thank you for your help in relaying this information to our guests. During the morning our honored guests will be able to see our classrooms, tour the school, visit the Book Fair, and enjoy breakfast treats. We are looking forward to sharing St. Cletus with our special guests! After the completion of the scheduled morning activities, the children will return to their homerooms for the remainder of the morning. We will dismiss at noon.

If for some reason your child is leaving prior to dismissal with their Grandparent or Special Friend, please remember that individuals picking students up from school must be listed on the emergency card or we should have received a note from a parent, otherwise we will have to contact you by phone to release your child. Thank you for your cooperation.

Join us on Tuesday, October 9, as we gather to celebrate the October Birthday celebrants. We will begin at 7:50 AM in the gym. Please join us if your schedule permits. All of our Birthday celebrants are able to have a Dress Down Day on Tuesday in honor of their special day! Thank you!

Next Wednesday, October 10, at 2:00 PM we will have Adoration and Benediction in the church at 2:00 PM. This is a wonderful prayer opportunity and a peaceful fulfilling way to end the school day. We hope you are able to join us in prayer!

Tomorrow begins the St. Cletus Enchanted Forest Book Fair which will continue through the Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 11. Just a reminder that the Book Fair can also be found on-line through a link on the Fast Direct link page. Online orders can also be placed by visiting the St. Cletus Book Fair Homepage from October 5 – 12. This can be found by going to the login page on Fast Direct, click Links (located in the menu under the photo of the bell tower); there you will find the link to the Saint Cletus Book Fair Homepage. We are still in need of volunteers to assist with the Book Fair – please go to the following link - signup.com/group/9257824100104 to sign-up and help with the event. Thanks to PTO, Kristy Flood, and all the volunteers who have made this event possible. We appreciate your support of the Book Fair and in helping us receive additional funds for our Library. Thank you!

Next Wednesday, October 10, report cards will be available in the afternoon on Fast Direct. You will have the opportunity to view your child’s/children’s report card prior to Parent/Teacher conferences that afternoon and the next day. Your child/children received your conference confirmation slip last Thursday. We look forward to seeing you at conferences on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening.
Next Wednesday and Thursday, during Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Lost and Found will be displayed in the center hallway of school. Please take time to stop by the table and check for any lost items. Any items left on Friday afternoon will be taken to the clothes recycling house. Thank you!

Please note that Friday, October 12, we will have a late start for classes due to conferences the prior two days. The doors will be open and children will be monitored at 9:10 AM. Classes will begin at 9:30 AM. Thank you!

In the envelope this week, you will find a flyer regarding Trunk or Treat. Trunk or Treat will be held on Friday, October 12. This is a wonderful evening where families come together and the children can trick-or-treat in a safe environment. Food trucks will be available, along with music, and games. The evening will begin at 6:30 PM and end at 9:00 PM. Our thanks to Liz Lucas and the PTO for sponsoring this event; we look forward to beginning the Fall Intersession with a night of spooky fun.

We are happy to announce that along with our current afterschool opportunities (Bellarmine Speech, Bricks 4 Kidz, Latin Class, and Mathletes) beginning in November, on Thursday afternoon, Bricks, Bots, and Beakers will be offering a STEM class at 3:00 PM. Children will be able to explore the world of science with various fun and interactive activities. You will find a flyer with additional information in the Thursday envelope.

This week’s STP Tip of the Week: A member of our St. Cletus family is now an STP vendor! You can buy gift cards for on-line purchases of personalized gifts @ www.hbehrmanndesigns.com.

Have a wonderful weekend!
